Opening the About Land Tool
Your control panel for all parcel settings
Method 1: Right-Click
- Right-click on the ground
- Select "About Land"
Method 2: Menu
- Click "World" in top menu
- Select "About Land"
Quick Tip
You must be standing on your parcel to see its settings. Check the top bar to see which parcel you're on!
Understanding the About Land Tabs
Each tab controls different aspects of your land
General Tab
The overview tab showing basic information about your parcel.
Parcel Name
Give your land a name. This appears in the top bar and search results.
Description
Add details about your parcel. Useful for clubs, stores, or attractions.
Prim Count
Shows how many objects (prims) you've used and your limit.
Owner Info
Displays the parcel owner and group information.
Options Tab
Control parcel behavior and restrictions.
Build/Edit Permissions
- Edit Terrain: Allow others to modify the land's shape
- Create Objects: Let visitors build on your land
- Object Entry: Allow objects to be brought onto your land
Flying
Check to allow flying. Uncheck to keep visitors on the ground.
Scripts
Enable/disable scripts from running on your land.
Safe (No Damage)
Prevent combat damage. Recommended for most parcels.
Landing Point
Set where visitors arrive when they teleport to your land.
Common Setup:
- ✓ Flying: ON
- ✓ Safe: ON
- ✓ Scripts: ON
- ✗ Edit Terrain: OFF
- ✗ Create Objects: OFF
Media Tab
Set up streaming media for your parcel.
Media URL
Enter a video stream URL. This can display on screens placed on your land. Supports: YouTube, Vimeo, RTMP streams, image URLs.

Music URL
Enter an audio stream URL for background music. Commonly used for: DJs, radio stations, ambient music.

Pro Tips:
- Test your media URL before events
- Music streams auto-play for visitors
- Video requires interaction to start
- Use screen objects for video display
Access Tab
Control who can visit your land.
Public Access
Default setting - anyone can visit your land. Best for: Shops, clubs, public venues, welcome areas.
Allow List
Add specific people who CAN enter your land, even if restricted.
Ban List
Block specific people from entering your land.
Group Access
Restrict access to group members only. Great for private communities.
Common Scenarios:
Public access ON
Group-only or Allow list
Public during events, private after
Group-only with ban list
Sound Tab (if available)
Additional audio stream controls (similar to Media tab's Music URL).
Music Stream URL
Set your parcel's background music stream here. This is the same as the Music URL in the Media tab on most viewers.
Note:
Not all viewers show a separate Sound tab. If you don't see it, use the Music URL field in the Media tab instead.
Advanced Land Management Tips
Parcel Subdivision
If you own a full region, you can divide it into multiple parcels with different settings.
- Create rental properties
- Separate public/private areas
- Different media streams per area
How: World → Land → Subdivide (requires region permissions)
Auto-Return Objects
Set objects to automatically return to owners after a certain time.
- Keeps your land clean
- Prevents prim hoarding
- Great for public sandboxes
Where: Options tab → "Other" section → Auto Return
Show in Search
Make your land discoverable in world search results.
- Increases visibility
- Attracts visitors
- Essential for businesses
How: Options tab → Check "Show Place in Search"
Set Parcel Snapshot
Take a beautiful photo to represent your land in search and profiles.
- First impressions matter!
- Shows in search results
- Updates about land display
How: Take snapshot → Save → General tab → Set Snapshot
